Checking your engine oil

Park your car on a level spot, turn off the engine and set the hand break. Locate the engine oil dipstick, pull it out, wipe it off with clean cloth and insert it back in. Pull it out again and have a close look. If you find it completely black (although for Diesel engine, black oil is normal) and (or) the oil level is very low (pictured left) - suspect excessive oil consumption and (or) lack of maintenance. In either case the engine is more likely to have problems in the future if you don't service your car mare often. Another sign of poor maintenance would be dark stains (carbon deposits) covering the oil dipstick along its length. Well maintained engine will more likely to have cleaner oil and proper oil level (pictured right).

So please check your car once in a while and service your car every 3 months or every 10k. This will surely save your car and your money in the future. For further inquiry, ask your local workshop.
